We offer customized live aboard Cruising courses. Learn what it takes to manage your own vessel.

Whether you’re just entering the world of sailing, wanting to learn about sailing catamarans, monohulls, bareboat charter, or you’d just like to add to your sailing skills, our Certified Captain is ready to help you achieve your goals.

We will build your confidence as a sailor, and hone your skills in a very friendly, chilled environment. Let’s go sailing!

What’s covered:

  • Learn weather forecasting, Predict Wind, Navionics, and chart interpretation.
  • Everything you need for competent crew, deck hand, intro to sailing, practice your skills.
  • Master all the correct terminology, time to talk sailing!
  • Everything you need to know about docking.
  • Prepare the vessel for anchoring and learn the different techniques.
  • Learn the most important knots, invaluable to every seaman.
  • Man over board drills and how to avoid going over the side!!
  • How to not break all your toes !

What about Cruising? We teach you how to manage your own vessel!

We will teach you all there is to know about running your own vessel and cruising life! Consider this nursery school for the cruising lifestyle and for the day when you have your own boat!

  • How to provision, where to store all your food.
  • Best use of gas/electric ovens.
  • Refrigerators & ice makers. Do we need them? Basic maintenance.
  • Power management: Engines, batteries, generators, chargers, solar, alternators! Learn preventative maintenance for all these essentials from an experienced charter captain!
  • Water makers: How to use and maintain this marvellous invaluable invention!
  • Filters, strainers, and macerators! Become an expert….no one talks about these ones but it is imperative to know how to clean, unblock, and replace!! Never before has “toilet talk” been so important!
  • What clothes to pack for a cruise? Foul weather gear?
  • How to keep warm? How to keep cool?
  • First aid: What should I put in my first aid kit for cruising? Elementary first aid!
  • Firefighting: Basic prevention of fires, and how to use your fire extinguisher!
  • Survival at sea! How to avoid going overboard, and more importantly ,what to do if you do! Where is your life raft? Do you know how to use it?
  • Dinghy: Basic dinghy driving skills, maintenance, how to board the dinghy from the vessel without injury, and more importantly, how not to lose all your shopping!
  • What to pack in your grab bag.
  • Customs, immigration, checking in, checking out – what to expect and what documents you need.
  • Basic VHF radio use and etiquette.

This Intro to Cruising is designed for all sorts of people:

  • People who have never set foot on a boat
  • People who want to buy a boat
  • People who have just bought a boat

The minimum age for this course is 16 years old.
We welcome seasoned sailors!! You learn something new every day!!
